The full story
I’m Julia Hardy, a massage therapist based in Maui, offering personalized bodywork rooted in presence, intuition, and care.

Originally from France, my journey has been shaped by years of travel and exploration. Along the way, I have gathered tools, practices, and inspirations from different cultures — learning through experience, connection, and curiosity.

My path began as a filmmaker in India, where I first discovered yoga and meditation. This experience opened a new way of relating to the body, the mind, and the space between them.
A few years later, during a yoga retreat in Mexico, I met my first massage teacher. Through one-on-one transmission, I received the foundations of Thai massage — an approach that deeply resonated with me and became the beginning of my path in bodywork.
I continued traveling, practicing, and deepening my understanding of Thai massage over the years, eventually completing my certification in California.

During this journey, I received a Lomi Lomi massage that profoundly shifted my understanding of touch.
I felt called to learn this practice and traveled to Maui to join an immersion at Lomi Lomi Temple with Jody Mountain.
This experience was deeply transformative — ten days of learning held in silence, where the practice extended beyond technique into presence, listening, and inner awareness. The Temple holds a unique and sacred approach, where touch becomes a form of meditation and connection.
This immersion marked a turning point in my path.
One year later, I returned to Maui to commit to a one-year apprenticeship with Jeanna Naluai, deepening my understanding of the therapeutic dimension of Lomi Lomi and the responsibility that comes with this work.
Living on Maui for the past three years, I continue to immerse myself in the local culture with respect and humility.

My work is centered around supporting the body’s natural alignment. Through intuitive, attentive touch, I combine Lomi Lomi and Thai techniques to release tension, restore balance, and bring ease back into the body.

Plants have been part of my life since childhood, growing up in the countryside of France, surrounded by vineyards and nature. I have always been drawn to natural medicine, and wherever I go, I gather plants and flowers to work with them.
I create my own oils, hydrosols, tinctures, and infusions, allowing time, observation, and intuition to guide the process. For me, plants are not only ingredients, but teachers and allies — bringing a living, sensory, and deeply nourishing dimension to each treatment.

The didgeridoo entered my life nine years ago in France, when I first held the instrument and received my first lesson — a moment I will never forget.
Learning to play became a practice in itself: a meditation, a breathwork, a way of listening deeply. Through vibration and rhythm, it connects me to the body in a more subtle way.
Since then, it has remained a precious companion in my journey and my work. At times, I integrate its grounding vibrations into my sessions, supporting relaxation and inviting the body into a deeper state of stillness.

From all these lands, practices, and encounters, Shakkai emerged - like a garden growing over time.
A space where touch becomes listening, where vibration becomes stillness, and where the body is invited to return to its natural harmony.
